Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the role of Programme Director at Bristol European Green Capital 2015.
The European Commission has recognised Bristol’s success in creating a green city with a high quality of life by naming the city as European Green Capital 2015. This prestigious award gives Bristol a unique opportunity to further enhance the city’s reputation for creativity, culture and innovation. My vision is for Bristol to become recognised as a ‘laboratory for change’ – being Europe’s Green Capital in 2015 will give real substance to this ambition.
Whilst the award is for 2015, the work starts now. We are seeking to appoint a high calibre and experienced Programme Director to head-up the development and delivery of Bristol’s 2015 European Green Capital 2015 festival and programme. She/he will work with the Mayor and City Director and senior colleagues partners to develop a high quality and diverse programme that is culturally rich, educationally inspiring, quirky, distinctive and fun – and which has the potential to provide long term positive impact for the city and its communities.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced director of cultural programmes who is able to demonstrate a proven track record in securing major sponsorship and attracting resources; designing and delivering high profile city scale, multi-venue programmes and working with a variety of private and public sector partners.
This role offers the opportunity to demonstrate your exceptional leadership skills and your ability to develop ideas that others are willing to co-invest in. You will already have a strong relevant professional network including Government, business and cultural sectors. We are a city that is rich in sustainability organisations and expertise and you will be able to demonstrate credibility and an ability to ‘plug-in' to existing networks and to create and broker interactions with cultural institutions and leaders, to create a European Green Capital 2015 festival and programme that is world-class and creates lasting benefit for Bristol.
This will be a challenging and exciting role. If you are interested in ‘helping to make 2015 a truly remarkable year for Bristol and for the planet’ as well as supporting Bristol to become world-renowned for our efforts to become a leading global sustainable city, then we would like to hear from you.
Good luck and kind regards!
George Ferguson,
Mayor of Bristol
