Cut out plastic bags and bottles
Save a bag to help protect wildlife
There are more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic floating in our oceans. That’s a lot of junk; just imagine balancing 1,461 blue whales on the tip of your nose. Heavy, right? Well, that’s how much all that plastic weighs.
It’s not just a headache because of how much it weighs, or because it’s unsightly. All that plastic is wreaking havoc on marine wildlife and causing damage throughout the food chain.
Choosing reusable bags and re-fillable bottles can make a massive difference. It helps prevent a huge amount of waste going to landfill and into our oceans.
So grab those reusable bags and bottles you’ve already bought and put them where you know you’ll use them, in the boot of the car or in your commuting bag.
And don’t miss Luke Jerram’s installation Withdrawn (April-Sept, Leigh Woods) or the Bristol Whales at Millennium Square from the 17th July for more inspiration around this theme.
