Architecture Centre

The Architecture Centre is Bristol’s centre for design and the built environment. Based on Bristol’s Harbourside, the Centre’s mission is to encourage the understanding and enjoyment of architecture, and to champion better buildings and places for everyone.

The built environment has a profound impact on the health and well-being of people and the planet. Promoting sustainable approaches to place-making is core to the Centre’s mission

Through a wide range of exhibitions, events, learning and outreach activities we

• connect people with their built environment and make it accessible to everyone

• inspire, inform and involve people in shaping their city and neighbourhood

• demonstrate the value of good design and promote sustainable approaches

• support the achievement of a high quality built environment.

Promoting ‘a low carbon city with a high quality of life for all’

During European Green Capital Year we will be transforming the gallery into a ‘City Ideas Studio’ – a year-long hub where people from all parts of the city can come together to explore solutions for a sustainable future through exhibitions, workshops, talks and events. Collaborating with partners from across the city and beyond, the City Ideas Studio will be a place of production, interaction and engagement and a catalyst for green ideas and action. See http://architecturecentre.co.uk/Ideas-Studio for more information.

Our 2015 learning programme includes My Green City, a design competition for school. Launching in May, the competition will ask primary and secondary students to respond to a design brief on sustainable cities. To register your school’s interest email: info@architecturecentre.co.uk
