Bristol Natural History Consortium
The Bristol Natural History Consortium was established in 2003 and currently has 12 members who work collaboratively within the BNHC charitable structure. Our membership reflects Bristol’s reputation as a leading centre for the understanding and appreciation of the natural world, although our programmes have national reach and impact.
We have 3 main areas of work – Bristol Festival of Nature, the UK’s largest free natural history event, which more recently branched out to include satellite festivals in Bath and Chew Valley and smaller community outreach events all over the city; Bristol BioBlitz, an event held annually in a different park/green space in Bristol, where naturalists, scientists, volunteers and members of the public join together in a race against the clock to survey and record all forms of wildlife, and Communicate, the UK’s leading conference for environmental communicators, which brings together over 150 delegates each year to develop their skills, share best practice and debate the latest issues in engaging people with the natural world.
