Solarsense UK Ltd

Solarsense UK Limited is a well-established, Bristol-based business that is today one of the UK’s leading suppliers and installers of renewable energy systems for both domestic and commercial applications.

Retrieving Go Green status

One of the benefits of Bristol EU Green Capital is that it will raise awareness of the compelling benefits of renewable energy to the Bristol community. We at Solarsense have spent 20 years in the Bristol region promoting solar thermal, solar PV, vehicle electric charge points and heat pump technologies and look forward to playing a leading role in the Bristol Green Capital Partnership and Bristol 2015 throughout this year. Stephen Barrett,

Chief Executive, Solarsense UK Limited

Founded 20 years ago by Stephen Barrett, the company originally concentrated on solar thermal installations, but today a large part of the company’s business is focused on solar PV electrical systems. Solarsense has also built up considerable expertise across a range of other renewable technologies including biomass and ground- and air-source heat pumps.

With over 5,000 installations to its name throughout the South West, many of which are within the metropolitan Bristol City area, Solarsense has already played an important role in helping Bristol become a low carbon city. During 2015, it will continue to do so, through a mix of open days, educational visits into schools and presentations to not-for-profit organisations and businesses to demonstrate the benefits that a low carbon / renewable-based energy supply can deliver.

Solarsense has always been committed to “telling the renewable story” with intent and in 2010, purchased its own premises near Backwell, North Somerset, with enough space to test and showcase every type of renewable energy technology.

Recognising the importance of demonstration combined with education, Solarsense then purchased an adjacent five acre site to widen its range of demonstration technologies. This site has now been transformed by Solarsense into Bristol’s only Renewable Energy Technology Park, focusing on research, development, demonstration and education – a genuine centre of excellence for the South West.

Exciting developments in energy storage, hybrid PV / thermal panels, energy from waste, energy storage, electric vehicles, community energy schemes and much more are evolving on a continuous basis and will provide the foundations for Solarsense’s major involvement in the events within the Bristol 2015 European Green Capital year and its “Go Green” programme.
